The Spanish team will now compete for a spot at ESL Pro League after winning the domestic title.
Movistar Riders have been crowned ESL Masters champions after taking down SAW 2-1, making it their fourth consecutive victory in the domestic tournament, all of which they won against their Portuguese foes.
This time around it happened on home soil at the Movistar Esports Center in Madrid, Spain, where the two teams battled on LAN for the Iberian crown and a spot at ESL Conference, the vestibule of ESL's flagship league, ESL Pro League.
This victory brings Movistar Riders's win count to three since returning from PGL Stockholm, their first Major, as they also defeated 1WIN and Nemiga in ESEA Premier bouts this week.
The series kicked off on Ancient, SAW's pick, where the Portuguese squad got off to a quick start on the attack, hitting double digits by half time to bring it home without a hitch on the defense with a stellar Tiago "JUST" Moura.
The series got dicey for Movistar Riders as they struggled to gain control on Nuke despite keeping things very tight on the attacking side, going into the half down by just one round.
Unable to take immediate control, SAW had a chance to run away with the series, but Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano and company were finally able to settle late into the map to turn things around, 16-12.
Everything came down to Inferno, where the team led by Alejandro "alex" Masanet played a very calm and collected terrorist side which ended up with the Spaniards hitting double digits before the switch. SAW won an all-important second pistol round to try and bring things back in their favor, but a blundered round against a a full eco allowed Movistar Riders to pounce and take the map 16-7.
